The Operation

So apparently when you turn six months old you get a fabulous trip to the vet. Seeing as I had never really been to the vet this was a whole new world. Up until now, Dr. Joel just gave me my shots when he came by the daycare so I never got the pleasure of the whole clinic experience. Because I got spayed on Halloween, my mom let me wear my costume to the clinic when she dropped me off. The girls that work there are great! They loved me, cuddled me and played with me until I had to drift off to sleep. When I woke up I felt like I had my guts ripped out. Apparently this is what being spayed feels like. However, my mom chose laser surgery and I bounced right back with no worries. She sure found it difficult to keep me quiet for a couple of days. By nature I like to lick, so I had to wear the stupid cone which made me look like a small table lamp. Very funny, ha ha. Porter took good care of me and let me sleep with him even though I look silly with this cone on.

What's New

Other than growing and just being a puppy in general my life has been pretty busy.

I have graduated from my obedience and first level agility classes with flying colors and really made my mother work for "our" certificate. I am all registered and ready to start my next level of agility next week.

We have been on the road traveling a lot to agility trials for my brothers. I enjoy going and staying in hotels and jumping from bed to bed! I get to walk around the trials and meet other puppies that are hanging out just like me. When we were in Calgary, I got to play with my big sister and other family members. I am quite wee compared to my family but I don't really notice.

With Halloween approaching the last two trials have had costume contests. And the winner is.....ME! I looked so cute in my Snow White costume. I won first place at both trials. A huge stuffed pumpkin for me and a trial entry for my mom. Not bad for a little humiliation.

My Newest Friend

Every now and then some of my mom's friends take in foster dogs. My newest friend is Sadie, a lovely BC cross from Border Collie Friends Rescue. She is living with my other buddies, Bracken and Ceili. At first I wasn't so sure about her because she wiggled around so much she kept stepping on me. But now we wrestle on the couch together and Bracken and Ceili are glad if I can take her of their hands for a little while. She needs a really good home where someone will love her and play with her. From what I hear she is very smart.

Growing and Training

As you can see, I am all legs and ears lately. If I am not careful the wind will carry me away. I got measured to see how tall I am and I am a whopping 8 1/2 inches. That's okay though, my attitude makes up for the lack of height.

I have been doing very well in my obedience and agility classes and just love to do work. I do get a little extra practice time with my brothers so I am way ahead of my class. Here are a couple of pictures of me working on weaves poles and the dog walk. I just started doing baby jumps and love running up the teeter and flying through tunnels. I can even do five obstacles in a row! I think I am going to love this agility game!

Five Months

September 26, 2007

So the first 20 weeks of my life have passed quite well. I have now hit the five month old mark. I continue to learn new tricks every day and love taking classes with my mom. Here is a picture of me with Porter. I knew there had to be an easier way of getting around. I am such a monkey sometimes.

I am trying to get used to the change in weather but i don't have quite enough fur or fat to keep warm. So against my mom's wishes I am going to have to wear "clothes" when I go out. She did by me an awesome winter coat but I am going to need something for the in between weather. Grandma is knitting me a sweater, my mom made me a fleecy coat and Auntie Kiersten bought me fleecy sweater. I should be good for a couple months.

Off to School

September 7, 2007

I started school this week, Obedience (yuck) and Groundwork Agility. I am very smart and doing well. I do the obedience stuff if I have to but love playing tug and working with my mom in agility classes. No equipment yet just working together. I also lost my first tooth! Plenty more where that came from.

4 Month Update

September 1, 2007

Well it is official, I am just over 4 months old and my life is awesome! During our trip to Ontario, I sprouted some legs and my ears doubled in size. I now look like a fluff ball on stilts with satellite dishes for ears! My mother assures me it is just a phase and I am still as gorgeous as ever. Besides, the cuteness factor never disappears.

The Trip To Nationals

August 10, 2007
So the car is all packed and we are off to some kind of Agility Nationals. With the amount of luggage and dogs that are in the car I think we are going a long ways and for a long time. I gather from the nerves and excitement that this is a big deal. Both my brothers are competing as well as our car mates, Bracken and Ceili. From what I hear, today we are only going a few hours to Saskatoon, but our final destination is Halton Hills, Ontario. Sounds like two weeks in the car to me! I will do my best to keep you posted on the journey.

August 11, 2007
Wow! Today was a long day! We drove all the way to Winnipeg, Manitoba. There were many stops along the way for potty breaks, small walks and of course photo ops. 14 weeks old today and I had my picture taken in many places in Saskatchewan. Just what every little girl dreams of! Once we arrived in Winnipeg and everyone was fed and relaxed we ventured out on a walk. This was my first real walk on a leash and I did so good! I ran to keep up with the others but didn't pull on my leash at all. Not bad for a pip-squeak.

August 12, 2007
Boy, I thought yesterday was long! Today we traveled to Thunder Bay, Ontario. All I wanted to do when we arrived was rip around the hotel room and play with Ceili and Bracken. Porter is very boring in a hotel room, all he wants to do is rub his face on the bed. So I took the opportunity to bug Ceili and chase Bracken around. Bracken is deciding that I am a dog and it is okay to wrestle with me. Once we had some play time and dinner we took a drive to the harbor and I got to take a dip in Lake Superior. Of course, the big question was..."Do you think she will get in the water?" And my answer to that was, "Why the heck not!"

August 13, 2007
Is it just me or are these days getting longer? Today's journey took us to Sault Ste Marie, Ontario. A very pretty drive with lots of stops for pictures and potty breaks. We even stopped at the home of Winnie the Pooh in White River. There was more chances for me to swim in Lake Superior when we stopped at the beach! Now that was a riot! The water was not as calm as the harbor so there were waves rolling into the beach. If you stood in one spot too long you got drenched! It was great! Bailey fell for it every time! He was so wet! I actually think he waited on purpose to get drenched.

Our hotel here is right on the harbor and I can see lots of birds and boats out the window. The girls were tired and ate supper in the room. So there we were with pizza and a big screen t.v. Now what little puppy could pass up the opportunity to walk in the pizza box, especially when it was wide open on the bed! The boys put me up to it! I provided the distraction so that when I got put on the floor they could get a taste of the pizza. They promised they would share. Liars! Big brothers suck!

August 14, 2007
The final leg of our trip was to Guelph where we will be staying while attending Nationals. The weather is getting pretty humid and warm. My ears are melting and folding in half. I look a little silly right now. Even I am embarrassed about my ears.We stopped a couple of times to stretch our legs but mostly drove straight through as we had to get to the airport in Toronto to pick up Kiersten and Kes. Now that was some crazy traffic. The short trip from the airport to Guelph took forever. Needless to say, I am glad we are staying put for a few days. A baby girl needs her time and space to run free and there is nothing better than a big backyard and 12 dogs to do that with.

August 15, 2007
So technically a day of rest today but these crazy agility nuts figured they needed to practice before heading over to the Nationals site. We went to the Royackers facility in Aris, which was about 20 min away. The place was stunning! I got to play in the tunnels and run around with Jazz through the agility field. We had a blast. All the big dogs went in the lake but it was too deep for me. Oh yeah! Porter ran away today. He squeezed himself out of the fence surrounding the agility field. They did get him back but only after causing wide spread panic among the group. He was a very naughty boy.
Once practice was over we went to Halton Hills to set up our crates and tour the grounds. I have myself a nice second floor perch to watch the comings and goings of Nationals. I have lots of visitors to my crate to say hello and everyone wants to pet me. There is so much to see when I am out that visiting with the people is not so important but I do my best to turn on the cute factor. There are tonnes of vendor booths for shopping and my mom is finding all kinds of things to buy me! Yippee for me!

August 16, 2007
Today for me was pretty boring. Bailey was running in the pre-qualifier so that took all my mom's focus and attention. Good thing is that she has awesome friends who kept getting me out for walks and play time. I can handle one boring day to sleep because that means I am growing! Pretty sure I grew an inch today with all the rest I got. Best part of the day was that Bailey made it into Nationals. All is right in the world.

August 17, 18 and 19, 2007
These past three days have been filled with nerves and excitement. All the gang have been competing so it has just been me and Jazz (my new friend) hanging out in the crate area. Everyday at lunch I get to go shopping with my mom. It is very hot so I don't last too long but long enough to get new toys! Everyone has done well and there is a pile of ribbons going home. A collective sigh of relief as we start to pack up to go home.

August 20 - 23, 2007
The drive home was rather uneventful and long. We stopped allot for trips to the beach and places to eat but the days were still very long. Along the way I made a few new friends, the goose in Wawa, a Moose and Huskie the Muskie in Kenora. Oh yeah, my mom got a speeding ticket in Saskatchewan! Now that was fun!

Agility Camp

August 6, 2007

For my 13 week birthday I got to take a trip to Prince Albert with my brothers for agility camp and a trial. While they had to work hard at learning new things I just got to hang out and be cute. I got to participate in one of the sessions on clicker training and I stole the show. I certainly showed those old dogs how to target and nose touch. There was a puppy the same age as me there that came all the way from California! We got to play a little bit when time allowed. When we were out with our folks it was mostly about training. Apparently we are suppose to be learning stuff right now. No pictures this week. Sorry folks.

Stay tuned for future updates as we are heading out to Ontario for Nationals and I get to go along. I am sure to have some fabulous stories when I get back.

July 27, 2007

At 12 weeks old my world has opened up with all sorts of new things to do. Not all of my new expeditions are "good" but they are fun non the less. I have graduated from eating ice cream off a spoon to diving right in the bucket and drinking water out of a glass. This is what happens now that I have learned how to find a way to climb on to things. Just 'cause I am small doesn't mean I'm stupid. It is amazing what you can get away with when you are young and cute!

We have been working very hard on training and I now know how to sit, down, come and nose touch on a target. I am working on a couple of tricks as well but nothing reliable yet. I have also been getting acclimatised to the heat so that I am ready for our trip to Ontario next week. This weekend it is off to Prince Albert for my brother's agility camp. I know there will be puppies there to play with.

Busy Busy Busy

July 23, 2007

Now that I am a whole 11 weeks old, I am a very busy girl! I can run up and down the stairs as fast as Bailey and I have figured out how to get up on the couch so now he can never get away from me unless he gets on the bed. I can't quite get up there yet. Bailey is coming around and now lets me curl up in his fluffy coat for a nap. I can't tell you how cozy this little spot is.

Besides all the time that I spend chasing Bailey, I have discovered that chasing down ants and killing them is a total riot. If I just touch them lightly they start to run and then I can chase them and pounce on them. Of course when they get to the grass that makes them a little more difficult to find. Here is a picture of me in the garden trying to find some shade.
This weekend Porter and I had a few good games of chase going in the yard. When he gets the zoomies look out! I figured out that I only had to chase him half way 'cause he would turn around and come back and I could grab his tail and go for a ride. Now that was some kind of fun! I am getting pretty fast and can almost keep up to that big guy. I have to learn how to bank my corners a little better though because on one occasion I went a little wide and ended up in the paint tray my mother was using to paint the fence. After she was done laughing at her and I covered in green paint she wasn't very impressed so we had to stop chasing each other. There are no photos of this event as there was just too much paint to deal with.

Don't get too deceived by all the fun I am having as I am also learning how to sit, down, stay and fetch! Fetch is the most fun especially when I get to chase tennis balls! Did you know that they make a ball small enough for me?

Another Road Trip and New Friends

July 16, 2007

So at 10 weeks I am a seasoned traveler. We went on another road trip this past weekend to Saskatoon. It was a great weekend as both my brothers ran really well in the trial and some big fuss was made about Porter getting some title in agility. One day that will be me!

The best part of the weekend was when I got to tear around the hotel room and torment my tired room mates. Besides my brothers I spend the most time with Bracken and Ceili who travel with us. It took Bracken some time to warm up to me because he wasn't sure that I was actually a dog. Now we are good buddies and he will play with me when the others are too tired care. It must be because he is black and white like me!

Man is it Hot!

July 12, 2007

The weather has been pretty hot lately and it has taken me some time to adapt to all this heat but now I think I have the situation under control.

Last night I got my first taste of Dairy Queen ice cream. Now that's what I'm talkin' about! I only got a couple of licks of the spoon and then I tried diving into the cup. There is a photo somewhere but not available to the public yet. Bailey and Porter got way more ice cream than me which is not fair at all. My mother said something about it making me sick. Whatever! I'm 9 weeks old now, I can handle a little ice cream.

So if I can't have ice cream then I am going to swim in the pool. Okay it is just wading but fun splashing around non the less. Here's a couple of picture of me in my first pool experience. That big Border Collie is Andy and Hannah is the little girl. They couldn't wait to get in the water either. My game in the pool is scratching the pictures off the bottom.

My Charm is Working

July 5, 2007

Well I think my charm is starting to work on Bailey. If I wait until he is sleeping and I sneek up really quietly and lie down he will let me sleep near him. As you can see from the picture I am up to a foot away now. Before he used to get up and walk away as soon as I got comfortable. I am sure in no time we will be good buddies.

Last night I got my first taste of agility when I went ripping through a tunnel. Man those things are fun! It was great excitement until I decided that using it as a giant chew toy would be better. Apparently you aren't suppose to do that.

Family Photo

July 2, 2007

I am 8 weeks old now and learning so many new things. I have started to try walking on a leash but I don't really like it. We only get to the end of the driveway before I make a huge fuss about the leash. Lots of time to train that. My biggest problem is that my neck is so small the collars don't really fit. Mom bought me a cat harness to make it easier but who in their right mind would want to wear a cat harness! At least it is purple, I like that color.

We got a new fence for the yard this weekend as I could squeeze through the other one. I have spent a lot of time outside playing while they have been working on the fence. With so much fresh air I am sleeping through the night! While we were playing outside we took time for a family photo. This is as close as Bailey would let me get to him. All in good time. Look how big I am getting!

My First Road Trip

June 30, 2007

Went on my first road trip this weekend to Prince Albert! Now that sounds exciting doesn't it? Well for me the weekend was a blast! Staying in a hotel with my brothers and two other dogs to torment all weekend sure made for some fun times. I was very well behaved in the car for the entire trip and only made a peep when I needed to get out. I had so much fun on the trip that I hid in my mom's bag when we got back.

My Big Brother

June 26, 2007
So I have two big brothers. Bailey who is the man in charge and the oldest and Porter who is the biggest but is proving to be my best buddy. He is so kind and patient with me and very concerned about my well being. When I have to "go" in the middle of the night he hears me cry and makes sure my mom gets up to let me out. Of course he always has to go with me to make sure I am ok. When I am tired he lets me curl up wherever I want, usually in his tail, for a nice little nap.

He is like having my own personal playground. I get to climb all over him, jump off his back, roll around under his chin and dive at his head. He actually likes it I think. He has no teeth in the front of his mouth so I like to crawl through there when we are playing too. Check out the video of one of our little play sessions.

I made my mom freak out the other day when I crawled into Porter's dish when he was eating his dinner! Wow was she scared. I am so brave I don't care if it is suppose to be scary. Besides, Porter didn't care anyway, he just licked around me to get his food out. We have a good relationship, what I can't finish of my dinner he licks out of the bowl when I am done but only after mom says it is ok.

My New Family

June 22, 2007
Today I came home to my new family. Kind of a crazy weekend as one of my brothers was competing at the AAC Regionals. All I know is that there were a tonne of people and dogs there and it seemed pretty important. Everyone thinks I am so cute and wanted to hold me and watch me play. From what I gather my extended family is pretty big and so far all the other dogs like me. Of course someone had to see what kind of things they can put me in because I am so small. So here is a picture of me in somebody's hat.
