My New BFF Vybe

This is Vybe, my new BFF, which means Best Friend Forever by the way.
For about two minutes she was the same size as me, and like all the other puppy friends I have had, she got bigger than me very quickly.

Auntie Ainsley said my new job is to make Vybe very tired so that she sleeps through the night after I am gone. No problem Auntie, that is a job I can handle! We love to play tug, chase, and of course wrestling. I roll over a lot so Vybe thinks she is winning. Something I have picked up along the way. Puppies need that confidence.

Vybe also has a fascination with my way older brother Bailey. Every time she sees him she starts following him around the yard. I think she may believe he is a tiny sheep, just her size. She hasn't gotten into full stocking mode but she keeps a good eye on him. The funniest part is he could care less about her. Ha-ha-ha!!!

Vybe tries that crazy Border Collie stance with me when we play all the time. I got her card alright. As soon as she crouches I run in and jump on her. Awesome!

My mom said I get to play with Vybe all weekend because the older dogs are playing agility. Sounds like a good time. I can only be a babysitter for another month and then I will be playing with the big dogs. Keep watching for new pictures of me and my new BFF

Summer Vacation

I am back from a fun filled week of vacation on Kootenay Lake in British Columbia. Mom decided to take the three of us furry kids on an actual vacation this year which involved twelve hours in the car and non-stop fun once we got there. I got to play on the beach, swim in the lake, ride in a boat, wear a life-jacket, play frisbee, eat watermelon and run around until I dropped. It was such a great time! Here are some pictures from the road trip....

Horse & Hound

July 12, 2008 was the annual Kids with Cancer Jump for Hope event at Amberlea Meadows. This year I got to play in the Horse & Hound event and made my public debut. At the event the people get to bet on which team of horse and dog will get the best combined score. The pot is split 50% to the winner and 50% to the charity. A pretty good deal and a lot of fun. When they saw me walking around they all laughed and thought it was funny how tiny I was and were teasing each other that they might be paired up with me. Little did they know. I ran the third fastest time but had a super slow horse so we finished 9th. Too bad. Even though I came in 9th I got my very first ribbon for agility. It is bigger than me but very pretty. My mom has officially started my wall of fame at the shop.

My First Flyball Tournament

Have you ever experienced a rush to great that you never come down from the high? I think I just did that playing in my first flyball tournament ever! I LOVE FLYBALL!!! My mom was very worried about other dogs wanting to chase me down but I told her I am a big girl and can handle myself. I have always had fun at practice but getting out into the actual racing lanes was so exhilarating. I found this very high pitched scream inside me and couldn't stop letting it out. My mother thought it was a horrible noise but quite entertaining none the less. Check out the video of my debut below.

Agility Camp

I attended my first agility camp at the end of June, with Terry Simons, Kim Anderson and Cheryl Bartlett and I sure had a good time. Working on agility for three days straight was so much fun. The theme of the camp was Vegas so the handlers were allowed to "bet" on the positives of each others turns. Whenever I was up everybody in our group put all their money on the table in hoped of doubling their money. I did my best not to disappoint. The last bet of the weekend on me was for $10,000. Yikes! Things did not go as well as planned and they lost their money. Easy come, easy go they say. There was a trial on the last day but I am still to young to play but I should would have enjoyed it. In August, I am off to Dana Pike to learn some more great things.

My First Sleepover

There comes a time in every girls life when they get to have their first sleepover. My mom had to go to Jazz's mom's wedding so I had to stay with my auntie and the 3 kids. Hannah was very excited that I was going to be staying over and even wrote it in her day-timer. We spent a lot of time playing in the yard on on the lawn swing. Hannah took me for a nice walk down the street and introduced me to her friends. Those little girls sure like to pick me up a lot. Saturday was dress-up day for Hannah. She likes to pull costumes out of the special closet and dress up. When she put on her Princess Jasmine outfit I got a little freaked out because she had a scarf on her face and didn't look like Hannah. Once Hannah realized I was scared she took of the scarf and picked me up and gave me a kiss.

Later in the evening my auntie had to go out and put me in a crate. Not my favorite thing so I kicked up a little fuss to see if I could get my way but it didn't work. So after she left I put my super powers to work and busted out of my crate! Look at me go. With all my free time I did get into trouble but what else was I suppose to do left in a house all alone? I got up on the kitchen table and stole my food for the next day and took my chewies and tossed them around the front room. Had to go to the bathroom with all that activity and found a spot in the bathroom and the basement. Lovely. The best part of the whole excursion was the look on my auntie's face when she opened the door and there I was to greet her. That will teach my mother for leaving me behind.

Happy Birthday to Me!

It's true, it's my birthday and I am a whole year old today! Yippee for me! My birthday couldn't be any better than it is today. I get to spend it playing with my buddies in daycare and playing agility tonight. I also share my birthday with my friend Jazz, because we share a b-day we will have cake at agility class tonight. Buffalo Liver Cake is to die for! It tends to cause some distractions to the others who are learning but it is really good stuff. Here are a couple of pictures of me and Jazz getting ready to eat our cake. We had to hold Jazz back because she wanted to devour the whole cake!

My Auntie Anji bought a two very cute party dresses, no girl is complete without a party dress she says. The black party dress is a little more formal than the pink party dress. I can play agility in my pink party dress but my mom won't allow it.

For your viewing pleasure, an update to the original Porter and Slice video. Somethings never change. We still have a great time playing together but Porter is starting to get a little wise to my ways. I will have to come up with some new tricks to keep him on his toes.

Another New Friend

I may not be the baby anymore but I am sure enjoying all the puppies that are coming my way. This is my newest buddy, Stryker, a Small Muensterlander, or just cute for short. He arrived on an airplane four days ago and I was the first dog he met and played with! It is so fun teaching these little munchkins the ropes and how to play with a small dog. This way, when they grow up and get big they will still play nice with me. I am pretty tough but I don't like to be stepped on or smacked in the head. Right now, Stryker is small enough that we can wrestle in a crate together. Only for another couple of weeks though then he will be too big for that.

Meet Baby James

Let me introduce you to my new "cousin", baby James. It has taken a while to get a picture as I get so excited to see James that I can't sit still. I am very curious about his car seat but haven't been allowed to get in it unless James is out of it. It is a very cozy place will all the blankets and sometimes there is a bottle of milk. I like to take care of James by licking his head and sometimes I sneak in an eyeball. I think James is starting to recognize me because he smiles when I jump up to see him.

11 Months

Well my first year has almost passed! Can you believe I am almost one year old. No longer am I the "baby girl" as my auntie's have gotten or are getting new puppies. I even have a new human nephew, James. He is very cute and I love to sleep in his car seat and lick his head.

I have been working on stretches and core strength with my new physio-roll. Apparently it is supposed to be hard to balance on this thing but I have no problems.

My hair is growing in nicely and I am starting to look very pretty. My mom wishes my hair was longer but it would really get in the way of my playing and tom-boy attitude.

I got my first taste of fame this month. I was invited to model in a fashion show for Fabulous Furballs, where I get all my bling from. I got to where a $180 white leather dress that was just too cute for words.

I got paired up with Gringo because he was so scared. When he is with me he is way braver and even came out of his carry bag during the fashion show. Personally, I think he didn't want me getting all the attention. Bracken also got invited and he got to wear surfer shorts. He looked really cute in them and was a real crowd pleaser.

The whole thing was great and I had a lot of fun. Check out the little video clip to see how I looked.

10 Months

Nothing really new to report at ten months. I have been showing the ropes to a few new puppies and making more friends. Guinness is one of my newest friends. He is another foster with Auntie Ainsley so I don't know how long he will be around but we have a good time together.

I went to my first agility fun match and had a grand old time! Running as fast as I can in the dirt is an absolute riot! I got the gamble and did everything else excellent except for the weave poles with which we have a little fine tuning to do.

9 Months

February 14, 2008

3/4 of my first year have passed already! Can you believe that I am nine months old already! I am still a busy little girl and love my life. What more could a girl ask for than to be able to run and play all day and learn flyball and agility at night! I have a new friend at the daycare named Gringo, a little chihuahua, who will never be bigger than me! All the other puppies that come in out grow me in about a month and move onto playing with the big dogs. At least I get to break them in and show them the ropes. It makes me feel important. Gringo, on the other hand, is going to be hanging around with me for a long time. If we ever slow down long enough for a picture you might see one here. For now, no time for pictures for Gringo and I, just lots of playing.

Here is a new family photo (taken in today's blizzard) and some others of me almost all grown up.

Family Reunion

We went on a road trip this weekend to Prince Albert for an agility trial for Porter. I love going there as I get to see my half brother and a bunch of other puppies that are so much fun to play with. The last time I saw my half brother Cyber, I was very very little and he wasn't very patient with me. This time we wrestled and and had a good time together. Even at 8 months I am still very very tiny compared to him and he isn't that big. My mother keeps telling me that good things come in small packages. I also got to play in the "Q" bin while we were at the trial. My mom lets me pick out toys for Porter knowing that I will eventually be the one playing with them once he kills the squeaker.

Merry Christmas

It has been a few weeks since my last entry and as usual my life is full of activity and very busy. Agility classes are going very well and I get to practice at the barn when my mom takes the boys. I am too tough to wear a coat when I work so I can't practice very long but it sure is fun. I know how to do all the equipment and love the teeter and weaves. The tunnel is my favorite obstacle because I can bank really high on the corners when I go fast. I am so fast that the photographer can only get picture of me doing bottoms on the teeter. I look so wee on the teeter when you see the photos but I feel much bigger.

With Christmas coming it is very busy at the shop and people keep bringing me in presents! I love Christmas! Nothing makes a girl happier than lots of new toys to play with. As you can imagine, along with Christmas comes Christmas outfits, and my grandpa didn't miss a beat when he scored me this little number! My winning streak continues as I won another free entry for Porter at a Christmas trial. As you can see from the photo I am not overly impressed with the hat.

Bailey and I have really bonded and he loves me to pieces when I am sleeping! We often assume the same position when we are sleeping (see photo), both belly-up. My mom is amazed at how many of the same traits of Bailey's that I have or am picking up. I am my own dog but Bailey has some cool habits, traits and mannerisms that are fun to follow.

All in all, I am growing into a "very nice little girl" that my mother is very proud of. My hair is coming in nicely and fast so I don't look so "naked" anymore. January is going to be a busy month full of learning and traveling. I will keep you posted.
